Madan Mohana temple - around
Advaita Acarya performed his bhajana here at Advaita-vat at the base of the hill. He discovered the original Deity of Madanmohan (Krsna) in Mahavan-Gokul and served Him here at the base of an old "vat" tree. Before His departure for Navadvip He entrusted the Deity to brahmana Chaubhe in Mathura. Years later Caitanya Mahaprabhu sent Sanatana Goswami to Vrindavan to discover lost places of Krisna's pastimes and write books about devotional service.
Kaliya Ghat is the place where Krishna performed the celebrated pastime of Kaliya Daman or the subduing of the envious serpent, Kaliya. Kaliya Ghat is just at a 3 minutes walking distance from the famous Madanmohan Temple of Srila Sanatana Goswami. The bhajan kutir and samadhi of Shrila Prabhodanand Sarasvati lies close to Kaliya Ghat. Bilvamangal Thakur’s bhajan place is also nearby. Kaliya was a thousand hooded serpent out of which 101 hoods were most prominent. He, alongwith his wives, the Nagapatnis was staying in a deep pond, called the Kaliya Daha or the poisonous lake of the serpent Kaliya, at this place within the River Yamuna. Previously, Kaliya Ghat was one of the ghats (series of steps leading down to a water body) on the banks of River Yamuna but in due course of time Yamuna changed its path and currently Kaliya Ghat lies at some distance from the Yamuna.
Sanatana Goswami Samadhi. There are several places throughout the Vraja area where Srila Sanatana Goswami performed his bhajana, but the last days of his life he spent at Govardhana Hill. He departed from this world on Guru Purnima, while residing at Govardhana. His body was brought to Vrindavana and placed in samadhi behind the Radha Madan-Mohana Mandira. There is also sweet water well here that Sanatana Goswami used. Good sweet water is rare to found in Vrindavana area since it is mostly too mineralized and taste salty. From many wells it is not even advisable to drink.
Just behind his samadhi is grantha-samadhi, which contains some of the original manuscripts of the Goswamis. Some of the books compiled by Sanatan Goswami were Hari-bhakti-vilasa, Brihad-bhagavatamrita, Dasama-tippani and Dasama-carita.
Prabodhananda Saraswati serves Shri Radha in Goloka Vrindavana as ... asta-sakhis. His samadhi is behind Kaliya-ghat near the Kadamba tree of Krishna lila. Prabodhananda Sarasvati one of the legendary Gaudiya Vaishnava and hitaharivamsa tradition sannyasis. Originally from Srirangam of Sri Sampradaya tradition, converted to the path of devotion to Radha Krishna by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
After associating with Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in Shri Rangam, Shri Prabodhananda Saraswati converted from Shri to Gaudiya Vaishnavism. Empowered by Shri Chaitanya, he taught Shrimad Bhagavatam and other devotional works to Gopala Bhatta Goswami, his nephew. His eloquent speech would engladden everyone. Leaving Shri Rangam, he lived a detached life in Shri Vrindavana as a fully dedicated servant of Radha-Govinda. He was a rasika acharya, perfect in describing the nikunja-lilas of Gandharvika-Giridhari. He glorifies Lord Chaitanya, Radha-Krishna, Navadwipa, and Vrindavana with enlightened devotion. Prabodhananda Saraswati's writings bless the beginner with bhakti and shower rasika Vaishnavas with pure nectar. Sangita Madhava, Navadwipa-sataka, Chaitanya-chandramrta, Radha-rasa-sudhanidhi, Vrindavana-mahimamrta are some of his books.
