The Adjucative Burden Is On GBC, Not the Swami

Garuda dasa, professor Graham Schweig, states in Sampradaya Sun the other day (Commentary on "A Note About the Second Edition"):

"Aren't we really talking about Jayadvaita Brahmacari and later Swami here, who has always been the BBT's absolute authority on editing? The judge, the jury, the defense, the offense, the whole adjudicative burden of assessing the editing responsibility? Hasn't it always rested on his shoulders? Hasn't he had the supreme trans-zonal/trans-guru power in the Movement to say ultimately what stays in Śrīla Prabhupāda's books and what does not?"

Yes, of course, H.H. Jayadvaita Swami is the working hand, there is no doubt.

But the GBC members, the members of the Governing Body, are the MAIN party responsible for the calamity to take place at all. They have never objected to the alterations of Srila Prabhupada´s books.

Also the gurus and celebrity devotees have never objected or opposed the book-changes.

Those who have raised their voices have been in favor of the changes. Examples, amongst many, are,

Hari-Sauri prabhu

Sacinandana Swami

Sacinandana Swami (twice)

Krishna Ksetra Swami

Bhakti Vikas Swami - audio...

This should be noted. Jayadvaita Swami was endorsed all along by the GBC.

The GBC could have stopped this long time ago. Based on the very extensive and very sound arguments and evidence against the book-changes. Examples of such here. The GBC did not.

It may be argued that the GBC has no authority over BBT, but everybody will know that if indeed the GBC had objected, the BBT could not/cannot ignore them. So the book changes are/were indeed accepted by the GBC, if not encouraged.
