ISKCON St. Louis
This temple community offers education and congregation services as well as traditional temple worship events.
International Society for Krishna Consciousness, popularly known as ISKCON celebrated Janmashtami in its St Louis premises on Thursday, August 9 in the evening.
Krishna Janmashtami, the appearance day of the Lord himself, is the highlight of annual activities. It’s the most auspicious occasion when the Lord descended about five thousand years ago. The event started with deity worship and ecstatic chanting of the Holy Name in the background. Accompanied with musical instruments like kartalas and mrdanga, the earnest calling of the devotees to their Lord reaches a crescendo immersing everyone in the nectarean sound vibration.
The Saint Louis ISKCON center consistently participates in community outreach programs and is a member of St. Louis inter-faith organization. It hosts weekly Bhakti Yoga Club events at Washington University giving an opportunity and accessibility to the aspiring intellects to explore Vedic wisdom and culture. In addition, there are weekly Bhakti-Vriksha programs in various home which help facilitate a systematic and structured study of scripture while establishing deep friendships along the way.
