Situation in Bangladesh remains tense

The situation in Bangladesh remains tense due to the continuing political unrest. ISKCON devotees and friends are asked to continue their prayers for the Bangladeshi devotees, Deities, and temples, and the Bangladeshi people.
As of 4:30 PM BST (Bangladeshi Standard Time), Wednesday August 7th, the report from Bangladesh is as follows. Despite extensive rioting, just one ISKCON property, a rented flat in Meherpur (Khulna division) was attacked and caught fire two days ago. While the Deities were partially damaged, they can be repaired. Three devotees that were in the building when the fires were set escaped unharmed through a rear door.
Nationwide, the political situation is unstable, but plans for an interim government are being put in place. Devotee leaders are hopeful that the new government will be able to stabilize the situation quickly and quell the violence.
“We are loyal citizens of Bangladesh,” said Caru Candra Das, General Secretary of ISKCON Bangladesh. “We are committed to help build the nation, and appreciate the support we have received from various quarters during these troubled times.”
“We request devotees to continue with their prayers. The Lord is our protector, and your prayers are helping and encouraging all of us,” Caru Candra said.
