Vedic Friends Association Congratulates Stephen Knapp on Receiving the Padma Shri
The Vedic Friends Association (VFA) proudly extends heartfelt congratulations to American author and renowned Vedic scholar Stephen Knapp (Sri Nandanandana Dasa) on being honored with the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award. The honor was presented by the Honorable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, in recognition of Knapp’s outstanding contributions in the field of Literature and Education.
For more than four decades, Stephen Knapp has been a steadfast advocate for the global understanding of Sanātana Dharma, authoring over 50 books and delivering thousands of lectures worldwide. Through accessible writing and unwavering dedication, he has brought the depth and universality of Vedic philosophy—including the Bhagavad Gītā, Upaniṣads, Vedic cosmology, and Hindu temple traditions—to audiences across cultures and generations.
His lifelong mission has been to preserve, protect, and present the spiritual and philosophical legacy of India. As a bridge between East and West, Knapp has restored dignity to the Hindu worldview, helped dispel long-standing misconceptions, and illuminated the timeless relevance of Vedic teachings in the modern world.
Stephen Knapp is also one of the founding members of the Vedic Friends Association, where his mentorship and leadership have inspired a new generation of Vedic advocates, educators, and seekers of truth.
VFA to Host Global Tribute Event in June
To commemorate this historic recognition, the Vedic Friends Association will host a special online tribute event in June 26, 2025, featuring distinguished scholars, dignitaries, and global voices who have been touched by Knapp’s work. The event will celebrate his lasting impact on the global Vedic renaissance and his role in advancing Sanātana Dharma on the world stage.
