Monsoon season in India is called Varsha Ritu. It continues throughout July and August. During the summer season the vata and pitta doshas become aggravated, which can cause various diseases and conditions in the rainy season. Our food, lifestyle and care should help in balancing the vitiated vata & pitta doshas and in maintaining a healthy bodily constitution.

FOLLOW AN AYURVEDIC DAILY ROUTINE – DINACHARYA

A good ayurvedic daily routine will help you to stay healthy, by not allowing toxins to accumulate in your body. It will easily and significantly improve digestion and energy levels.

TO IMPROVE DIGESTION

Take easily digestible food like boiled or steamed vegetables (especially lauki, karela, tinda, parwal, sweet potato, and pumpkin).
Take rice, wheat, barley, soups of pulses, a little honey.
Take sour, sweet and salty food to balance vata.
Take various herbal teas that improve digestion, like ginger tea.

Ghee helps digestion.
Drink hot water.
Avoid bitter, hot, astringent, oily, frozen food.
Do not sleep during the day.

Choose a digestive aid according to your dosha:
Kapha: Pachanamrit, Ghanvati, Hingvati.
Pitta: Amla sharbat (amla juice), Triphala.
Vatta: Saunf (fennel), Hingvati.

TO BUILD IMMUNITY:

Take hot water baths.
Do not sit on the floor.
Wear footwear at home.
Cut your nails regularly.
Cover your body; do not wear sleeveless clothes. Wearing a scarf may be helpful, especially at night.
Use mosquito repellents and nets.
Keep the home clean.
Avoid street food.
Avoid green leafy vegetables as in this season, they may carry germs.
