Altitude Sickness can occur at 3000m (10,000 ft), but usually occurs at 3500m or higher. Usually the higher the altitude, the worse the symptoms. High altitudes affect people differently Mild symptoms can be treated by resting for a day or two. More severe symptoms include severe headache, breathlessness, loss of coordination, vomiting, severe cough, drowsiness, and loss of consciousness.

One can buy pills against altitude sickness, but these have side effects. Local people suggest chewing garlic which makes the blood thinner.
