Gomukh source of Ganges

Gomukh is situated at the foot of Shivling Peak and Gomukh is an enormous cavern from where the river Bhagirathi, the principal tributary of the river Ganga, has begun its course. One has to explore this narrow and rough terrain on foot. It is steep at times and at times it is smooth. Gomukh is famous for its incomparable panoramic views. The river comes out from inside a glacier, the opening is said to look like the mouth of a cow. With all my gestalt powers,I could not figure any resemblance between a cow and the glacial opening. But, its eerie and quite awe inspiring all the same. It is all so quiet except for the roar of the river. There is actually nothing else that you can hear. . . From Gangotri we move along the beaten track towards Gomukh - Gangotri (3048 mts/10000 ft) - Bhojwassa (3792 mts/12440 ft) - 18 kms trek. . .
