Sri Ramanujacharya
Three hundred years before Ramanuja appeared in 1017 A.D., another great personality, Sankaracyra had attempted to establish his doctrine of absolute, undifferentiated oneness. Ramanuja qualifed this oneness by the concept of spiritual variety of form and activities. As a result of his teachings, a wave of devotion swept the religious life of India. This film recreates the period with detailed authenticity, dramatizing Ramanuja's struggles against prejudice and persecution. The philosophy is presented with a deep appreciation for his profound purity and love of God. English subtitles; 2.5 hrs. Color. He is seen by Sri Vaishnavism as the most important acharya (teacher) of their tradition who followed Nathamuni and Yamunacharya.
