Krishna consciousness first touched the island of Trinidad in the early sixties. In 1970, Srila Prabhupada instructed some American followers to visit Trinidad to preach and spread the Vaishnava teachings. They held preaching programmes in houses, temples and in public areas where they distributed books.The devotees later secured a building in Fredrick St. Port of Spain. In 1971, the base of the organization was relocated to a rented house near the Drive-in cinema. Then the temple was again relocated to a more spacious property. There was ample space for cows and flower gardens. And while located here the devotees began the worship of Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai who later moved to the Edinburgh Road property. From then to now, ISKCON Trinidad expanded. There are now four major centres in Trinidad namely Sri Sri Radha Gopinatha Mandir and Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir, ISKCON South Center and the Madhuban Farm Community. More info >>
