ISKCON Agartala
ISKCON Agartala, Tripura, India. A beautiful house for Sri Sri Radha Govindaji, Sri Bala Gopal, Sri Giridhari, Sri Salagram, Sri Sri Jagannath Baladev Subhadra and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai.
As the local Bengali population is basically from Vaishnava tradition and very pious, it is easy to encourage local people to become devotees of the Lord by offering them educational facilities, a decent maintenance and a suitable occupation. Some years ago H. H. Bhaktisvarupa Damodara Goswami, head of Bhaktivedanta Institute and ISKCON GBC for Tripura, promoted the opening of three schools (Sri Krishna Mission School); the one in Agartala has about 1500 students, from kindergarten to class X.
Furthermore, after the completion of the Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir (situated in town), it will be possible to start a farm project with a goshala, flower and vegetable gardens, bee-hives and other farming activities, together with a vocational training center. These development schemes will greatly help the community to appreciate the preaching of Krishna consciousness, support the daily worship of the Deities and the celebration of festivals, allow the publication of transcendental literature and create a center of spiritual and cultural activities which can really transform Tripura and set a very good example for India and the world in general.
