ISKCON Coimbatore

In the year 1989 started some preaching activity in Coimbatore. Devotees used to come from Trivandrum periodically to conduct some courses and cultivate devotees. After some time with much difficulty a center was set up in Saiblabla colony in a rented premises. 
Mean while I was visiting Chennai temple on and of and would frequent the Brahmachari’s ashram there to meet my God brothers. A Brahmachari from Orissa called Bharadwaj Dasa was worshiping small Jagannath deities in the ashram. He dressed Them and placed Them above his shelf for everyone to see and relish. The deities were very attractive and I never failed to glorify Them whenever Their darsan. One day to my astonishment, Bharadwaja Dasa came to Coimbatore center. He said he was going off to the USA. He placed the brilliant forms of Lord Jagannath, Baladev and Subadra Devi on my table and requested me to take care of Them.
I was spell bound beholding the beautiful forms of Jagannath, Baladev and Subadra Mayi. We started to  worship them  on a small wooden altar with limited facilities. Slowly the worship became standardized with regular arati’s starting from Mangala Arati at 4 am everyday. I was very happy to serve Lord Jagannath.
